Spring is on its way - I hope!!

I saw it just the other day a tiny bit of green grass.  I do know spring is on its way to Montana - the Blue Birds, the Sandhill Cranes, the Robins and my Parents have all returned to Montana from the sun shine states.   But we are expected to get 12 inches of snow today.  We need the water so I can't complain - but I would like to be outside working.

Even with the long hard winter we have had the elk, deer and antelope numbers have never been so high.  We have been watching five different groups of bull elk there are 60 bulls and some very nice 6x6 and 7x7 bulls, never remember seeing so many large bulls.   There are three different herds of cow, calf and small bulls we have also been watching they range in number from  60 - 180 per herd.  Whitetail, antelope and mule deer also seem in abundance this year.  It has been a great winter for wildlife watching.

This should be a good up coming season for our hunters - our hunters should be receiving their hunting license by April 25th.  The state is offering 1000 additional cow elk tags in our area this year.  This means you can harvest both a cow and a bull with this extra tag.  Deadline to apply for this permit is June 2nd.  Give me a call with any questions you may have on special permits.   Deer, elk and antelope permits due June 2nd.   Moose and goat permits due May 1st.

Summer fishing season should be productive with lots of water - just looking out the front window.   We did very well with our fishing season last year and have added additional guides to the staff.  We had a very fun women's week last summer and added overnight camping to the package.  This year we will offer two cattle drives on in June and the other in July.

We are looking forward to the 2008 season.  Every year we seem to enjoy life more.  We look forward to seeing our old friends and meeting new friends.  What a wonderful business we are blessed with.

Thank you for your time.

Making it in life is kind of like busting broncos.  You're going to get thrown a lot.  The secret is to keep getting back on.
