Horseback riding adventures start right at the ranch and offer you a splendid way to see and experience the spectacular mountains surrounding our ranch. Upper Canyon Outfitters offers a variety of horse activities - whether a novice rider or horse enthusiast, the ranch accommodates all guests with a ride to suit their skill level. The length of the trail ride is suited to the experience of our guests. Two-hour to full-day rides are available, length determined by you.
We have lined up some outstanding horse adventure weeks for 2012. BUT remember we offer horseback adventures everyday all season long. During all our horse activities non-riding spouses and friends are welcome – lots of other activities to make this their SPECIAL vacation also. Don’t forget to ask for the non-riding members discounts.

Adventure Outdoors Week:
Check in June 30th - Check out July 6th. This is a “do- it- all” adventure week. During this week you will get to experience staying in the mountains at a high mountain camp in canvas tents for three nights and staying in our lodge for the other three nights. You will experience back country horseback riding, hiking, fly fish, learning outdoor skills, practice Dutch oven cooking, and relax away from the noise of our crazy world. On July 4th we will celebrate by going to Ennis for the Parade, Rodeo and then off to Virginia City for dinner and fireworks. You will wrap up the week on the last full day with a special high mountain ride with lunch at mountain top. This will be an unforgettable week with lots of activities.
The cost for six nights, five days of activities for the MT Adventure Package is $1750 per person.
Cattle Drive:
The cattle drive check in is on July 6th - Check out July 12th. Experience a genuine Montana Cattle Drive: On this trip you help real Montana cattle ranchers who still make their living close to the land. Experience riding the range with horse wranglers and cowhands, drive the cattle, and become part of a real Montana ranch. This is an exciting week for our guests who are on the cattle drive. Guest that aren’t riding with us during the day are welcome in on the evening activities. Days will be “rigorous but exciting” you will enjoy yourself and feel like you not only visited the West “You lived it.” During this week our fly fishing is starting to offer some fantastic dry fly fishing for non-riding spouses. The cost for six nights, five days Montana Cattle Drive Package is $2050.00 per person.
Horse Clinic Week:
Check in July 14th. - Check out July 21st. - Join us for seven days of equine awareness that goes beyond the average horse clinics. We will be joined by a number of skilled instructors including horse-trainers, cattlemen, riding instructors, horse massage therapist Russ Zinter and equine veterinarian Dr. Amy Grice. You will learn Natural Horse Training, how to work cattle, lots of mountain rides (that is what Montana is all about) proper lessons on catching, haltering, grooming, saddling and bridling, learn the foundation of horsemanship and lots more. Amy will teach you about nutrition, feeding, conformation, lameness, colic and horse emergency care. Russ will teach you how to massage and work with your horse to prevent injury and relief of stress, learn skillful
timing, sensitivity and earn a horses trust and wiliness.
This is an excellent clinic for those that are looking to enhance their horsemanship, do lots of mountain riding and learn more about horse care and health. This clinic is set up for you to experience arena but mostly back country riding, the Clinic offers hands-on personal care so you feel free to learn all you can and get your questions answered. Clinic limited to 10 riders. The cost for seven nights, six days of activities for the Horse Clinic Package is $1750.00 per person.
