We’re dedicated to providing a first-class, successful trip for each of our guests. Our family has been exploring, hunting, and fishing in these beautiful mountains since our grandfather homesteaded here in 1910.

Summer Dates and Prices: The 2012 Summer Season at Upper Canyon Outfitters starts off our season in June and runs through September. Beginning July 1 through August we offer local history tours, special horse events, hiking tours, fly fishing, and evening activities. Listed below are our all-inclusive packages, as well as our daily rates and special event weeks. We can customize a special package to suite your individual needs.
All our packages include private lodging in comfortable beds, three full meals per day, a two hour horseback ride, guided hikes and history tours, ranch fishing access on the Ruby River, and our spring-fed trout pond, plus use of all lodge facilities. At the end of your busy day join our other guest for complimentary appetizers and cold refreshments on the lodge deck to share your adventure of the day. Packages are based on double occupancy, an additional fee of 25% is charged for singles. Three night minimum stay.

Fly Fishing Packages:
These packages are designed for anglers who just can’t get enough fly fishing! Fly fishing guests have the exclusive use of over two miles of the Ruby River and a private spring-fed pond on the ranch. Full-time fly fishing guides are available at the ranch for instruction, float trips, walk/wade trips, trips into mountain spring creeks and information on water conditions. We are fortunate to be in such a central location for some of Montana’s best fly fishing. UCO is an hour’s drive from the Madison and Jefferson Rivers, and 90-minutes from the Big Hole and Beaverhead Rivers–a fisherman’s paradise! All fly fishing packages include shuttle service to and from the Bozeman airport.

Horseback Riding Packages:
Come experience a true western adventure: Horseback riding adventures start right at the ranch and offer you a splendid way to see and experience the spectacular mountains surrounding our ranch. Upper Canyon Outfitters offers a variety of horse activities - whether a novice rider or horse enthusiast, the ranch accommodates all guests with a ride to suit their skill level. The length of the trail ride is suited to the experience of our guests. Two-hour to full-day trail rides are available, as well as overnight pack trips, cattle drives and horse clinics. All horseback packages include shuttle service to and from the Bozeman airport. Packages are based on double occupancy, an additional fee of 25% is charged for singles.
Riders must be at least 10 years old we do offer youth lessons and rides in the arena.

Horseback Adventure Outdoors Week |
This is a “do- it- all” adventure week. Experience staying in the mountains at a high mountain camp for three nights & staying in our lodge for the other three nights. You will experience back country horseback riding, hiking, fly fish, learning outdoor skills, practice Dutch oven cooking, and relax away from the noise of our crazy world. On July 4th we will celebrate by going to Ennis for the Parade, Rodeo and then off to Virginia City for dinner and fireworks. You will wrap up the week on the last full day with a special high mountain ride with lunch at mountain top. Cattle Drive |
Experience a genuine Montana Cattle Drive: On this trip you help real Montana cattle ranchers who still make their living close to the land. Experience riding the range with horse wranglers and cowhands, drive the cattle, and become part of a real Montana ranch. This is an exciting week for our guests who are on the cattle drive. Guest that aren’t riding with us during the day are welcome in on the evening activities. Days will be “rigorous but exciting” you will enjoy yourself and feel like you not only visited the West “You lived it.” |

Horse Clinic Week
This is an excellent clinic for those that are looking to enhance their horsemanship, |
Equine awareness that goes beyond the average horse clinics. Offered by a number of skilled instructors including horse-trainers, cattlemen, riding instructors, horse massage therapist Russ Zinter and equine veterinarian Dr. Amy Grice. You will learn Natural Horse Training, how to work cattle, lots of mountain rides (that is what Montana is all about) hands-on catching, haltering, grooming, saddling and bridling, learn the foundation of horsemanship and lots more. Amy will teach you about nutrition, feeding, conformation, lameness, colic and horse emergency care. Russ will teach you how to massage and work with your horse to prevent injury and relief of stress, learn skillful timing, sensitivity & earn a horses trust and wiliness. |

Reservation – Cancellations
To secure a reservation, a 1/3 deposit is required. Balance is due upon arrival. Payment may be made by cash, check, money order or most major credit cards. Refunds less 50% if canceled more than 30 days prior to arrival. No refund if canceled less than 30 days prior to arrival. Travel insurance is strongly recommended.
